Breaking: Two injured when motorcycle hits pick-up truck in Yorkville

UPDATED AT 3:45 P.M. JULY 11

Yorkville police are continuing their investigation into a Thursday morning crash involving a motorcycle and pick-up truck that left two Yorkville residents injured on Route 34 east of Sycamore Road.

Police said the crash occurred at 10:25 a.m. when a 2001 Honda motorcycle driven by Chris Whisenant, 41, of the 1400 block of Cottonwood Drive, Yorkville, which was traveling west on Route 34 approximately 500 feet east of Sycamore Road at a high rate of speed, struck the rear of a 2005 Chevy pick-up truck driven by Thomas Zidron, 69, of the 300 block of Windett Ridge Road.

Police said Whisenant and a passenger on his motorcycle, Annette Fox, also of the 1400 block of Cottonwood Drive, Yorkville, were both injured in the crash.

Whisenant was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, while Fox was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, according to police.

Route 34 at Sycamore Road was closed for about two hours following the crash as police conducted their initial investigation.
