Visitors from all over the Midwest made their way to Sandwich, Wednesday, Sept. 4, to celebrate the opening of the 132nd Sandwich Fair.
Featuring favorite activities including the demolition derby, truck and tractor pulls and exhibitors, the fair will run through Sunday, Sept. 8. As the fair opened on Wednesday, exhibitors brought out their cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens for judging, and judges and assistants marked and scored sewing, horticulture, food and photography entries at locations across the fairgrounds.
Though heavy rains throughout the previous day led to the cancellation of the Western Horse Show Wednesday morning, the skies cleared and the grounds dried enough for visitors to fill the grandstands and watch harness racing - a perennial favorite of the fair, where horses pull a two-wheeled cart carrying their rider, around a track at a specific pace.
The Sandwich Fair will open at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, for more activities and events.
