The main stage at the Sandwich Fair got a bit brighter Friday, Sept. 6, as "American Idol" season 10 winner Scotty McCreery took the stage with opening act Jimmie Allen.
Allen, whose debut album "Mercury Road" dropped in 2018, first met McCreery when the two were on "American Idol" together. Though Allen was eliminated, the two formed a friendship that led to a tour together, that brought them to the Sandwich Fair for a headline concert Friday, Sept. 6.
Allen opened for McCreery, performing some of his hit songs including "Best Shot," as well as popular songs including "Shallow" from the film "A Star is Born."
McCreery took the stage to deafening applause and cheers. He entertained for the rest of the evening with hits like "The Trouble With Girls" and "This Is It."
The show lasted long into the night, sending spotlights and songs into the air in Sandwich, as the Sandwich Fair stretched on. The Sandwich Fair closed Sunday, Sept. 8.
