Oswego School District 308 schools to mark 9/11 with discussions, flags

Flags will line section of Old Post Road in Oswego

Students and faculty at Oswego School District 308 schools will mark the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with classroom discussions, history lessons and patriotic displays.

According to information provided by the district, students at Old Post Elementary School in Oswego will line Old Post Road with American flags, Wednesday morning, to mark the date.

During social studies classes, students at Oswego East High School will have the chance to hear stories and memories from teachers and staff members who were students, teachers, or other professions when 9/11 occurred, including one of the school's dean's assistants, who was employed as a police officer at the time, and flew to New York in the aftermath to support first responders.

Those who may be marking the date with a special ceremony or service are encouraged to send that information to news@kendallcountynow.com.
