Roundup: Audrey Rome, Sandwich volleyball tops Rochelle

Audrey Rome had seven blocks and six kills for the Indians in a 25-20, 25-18 win over Rochelle on Oct. 3. Ava Knepper had 11 assists, Cailyn Brummel eight service points and Olive Tornga eight digs for Sandwich (16-8, 5-3 Interstate Eight).

Knepper had 23 assists and nine service points in Sandwich's 25-7, 25-17 win over Ottawa on Oct. 1. Tornga had six digs, Abby Ripsky eight kills, Sophia Datoli four kills and four digs and Jaylynn Vana four kills and six service points.

Aaron Garcia scored a goal and Sead Sejdiu and Veasna Schwingle each made six saves in goal for the Indians (11-11-4) in a 6-1 loss to Lisle on Monday. Sejdiu made two saves on penalty kicks in a 0-0 tie with Plano on Saturday at the Interstate Eight Conference tournament. Garcia had two goals and Adrian Mendoza, Alex Alfaro, Luis Baez and Josh Heiman one each in a 6-1 win over LaSalle-Peru at the tournament.

Sandwich's Claire Roberts was 109th in 23:59, Peyton Rogers was 110th in 24:00 and Catrina Mitchell was 170th in 30:19 among 172 varsity runners at the Lisle Mane Event on Saturday. Molly Roberts was 18th in the fresh-soph race in 18:30. Wyatt Miller was 14th in 14:41 in the fresh-soph boys race, Hudson Wills 22nd in 15:01, Dayton Beatty 26th in 15:08 and Jaedon Thompson 42nd in 15:38.
