Plainfield man found dead in Yorkville hotel

UPDATED 6 P.M. WEDNESDAY, JAN. 8:

YORKVILLE – The Kendall County Coroner has identified the Plainfield man who was found dead at a Yorkville hotel near Route 47.

Kendall County Coroner Jacquie Purcell said Steven Clapp, 59, of Plainfield was found dead on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at the Super 8 hotel, 1510 A N. Bridge St. She said the autopsy was performed on Wednesday, Jan. 8 and the official cause and manner of death is still pending toxicology test results, but it appears to be a death by natural causes.

"Nothing at all suspicious at this point," Purcell said.

Yorkville Police Deputy Chief Behr Pfizenmaier said on Tuesday that police responded to a call that came in at 1:44 p.m. Tuesday from the hotel. Police later determined a 59-year-old male from Plainfield was found dead at the hotel.
