Food and craft vendors kick off the weekend at 5 p.m. Friday in Montgomery Park. The fest wraps up at 9 p.m. Sunday with fireworks. CIVIL WAR DAYS

COST & INFO: Fox Valley Park District residents – $5 adults, $4.50 children/seniors; nonresidents – $8 adults, $7 children/seniors. Children younger than 2 get in free. Blackberry Farm will commemorate the 153rd anniversary of the American Civil War with this weekend-long event. “Civil War Days” will be highlighted by a full-scale re-enactment on the historic grounds of Blackberry Farm, featuring simulated battles between Union and Confederate soldiers. Guest speakers and interpreters will stage numerous demonstrations of 1800s-era war life. Games and toys of Civil War days will highlight each day from start to finish. All of Blackberry’s regular amenities will be available – train, pony, carousel and hay wagon rides – along with the Adventure Playground. SIXTH ANNUAL MUSIC EVENT

This year's headliner, Scott Sherry, takes the stage at 3:30 p.m. Singer songwriter Scott Sherry, otherwise known as "D" from the band Love and money, is famous for his sing-alongs, acoustic party rock and more. Acoustic open mic will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a kids' improv corner. Kendall Arts Guild member Sharyl Iwanski will display her work in the silent auction which will benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
