Nick and Ben Stemmet both won their first sectional titles while Ferguson and Roberts both placed second and Fisher claimed third place on Saturday in Joliet.
A year ago, Lincoln-Way East's Nick Mihajlovich edged Nick Stemmet for the sectional title. But this time, Stemmet beat Mihajlovich 4-1 in the semifinals at 182 before recording a fall in 1:05 over Lincoln-Way West's Jacob Cronk to win the title. Stemmet will take a 38-3 record into the finals where he hopes to improve upon last year's second-place finish at the same weight.
"We have a tight group right now that's really strong with high goals and we work really hard at practice," Nick Stemmet said. "It's good that we're so close in weight because it's good to have one person in the room to work hard and get to know. But when you have multiple partners, you can switch from day to day since it's good to have different looks in the practice room and I also wrestle with my coaches, who are always willing to help."
