The Sandwich Fair continued bright and early under sunny skies and a gentle breeze Thursday morning, Sept. 5, as exhibitors gathered to compete and showcase their best and brightest in livestock, art and other areas.
Elburn resident Kaitlyn Johnsen, who has been showing at the fair for about eight years, called the Sandwich Fair, her favorite fair.
"It's good competition, I think it's the best fair in Illinois," Johnsen said.
Johnsen praised the fair environment and experience, while showcasing her heifer calf Poptart Thursday morning.
"I love cows, they're my favorite thing in the world. It's my passion, and being at shows every summer is the highlight of my summer," Johnsen said.
Activities at the fair will continue through Sunday, with truck pulls, the demolition derby, and a musical performance from American Idol winner Scotty McCreery scheduled in the coming days.
