Is a Chamber membership right for you?

Wondering what a Chamber of Commerce membership can do for you? Now is a great time to find out.

Throughout the month of September, the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual fall membership drive. New members who join will receive incentives, such as having the $25 application fee waived, paying only the membership fee. The membership is good from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2019, and includes all the member benefits.

What are they?

The Oswego Chamber of Commerce offers its members a variety of networking, marketing and professional development opportunities, referral programs, access to member-to-member discounts and insurance deductions, and free ribbon cuttings.

“We love to be able to connect businesses and watch them flourish and celebrate their successes,” said Oswego Chamber of Commerce Director Angie Hibben.

Today, the Chamber boasts more than 500 members spanning 22 communities around the Oswego area. “No business is too small or too big to be part of the chamber,” Hibben said.

The same goes for nonprofits. “We have members that range from small not-for-profits with all volunteers to the larger nonprofits with paid staff,” she said.

As part of the fall membership drive, those who join will receive a ticket to the New Member Showcase, which gives them an opportunity to promote their business to other members. The event is set for 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Whitetail Ridge Golf Course, 7671 Clubhouse Drive, Yorkville. The Chamber will also be hosting a networking opportunity as part of the drive from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Chamber office, 73 W. Van Buren St., Oswego.

Still wondering if a membership is right for you? Ask a current member.

Hibben has heard from several that their businesses have grown dramatically due to the networking opportunities afforded to them.

“We are a community that does business with each other,” she said.
