My Furnace Won't Ignite: What Now?

SPONSORED

When the outdoor temperature plummets, it's important to be able to rely on your furnace to keep your home warm and cozy inside.  If your furnace fails, it won't take long for your home to become uncomfortably cold.  If your furnace won't ignite, there are a few things you can try before calling Golden Seal Service Experts to come repair the unit.

1.  Check the air filters.  Air filters should be changed at least once every three months.  If they're not replaced periodically, they can become clogged, which will restrict air flow throughout the home and potentially cause the furnace to malfunction.  If you have pets, filters should be changed even more frequently.

2.  Check the thermostat.  Turn the temperature setting up a few degrees to see if the furnace will kick on.  Make sure the thermostat is set to "heat" or "auto".  Also verify that the thermostat itself is turned on.  If there was a power outage, even just a blip, the circuit breaker for the thermostat could have tripped and shut off the unit.

3.  Check another appliance that runs on gas.  If it works, the problem probably isn't with your gas line.  Check that the furnace itself is turned on, and verify that the circuit breaker for the furnace hasn't been tripped.

4.  Check the pilot light on the furnace.  If you know how, try lighting it yourself.  It could take a few minutes for it to ignite, as it may take some time for the gas to reach the pilot light through the gas line.

If you follow these steps and don't have any luck getting the furnace to ignite, call Golden Seal Service Experts.  They'll send a NATE-certified technician to come out and get your unit running as soon as possible.  For more information, please contact:
