Yorkville Police, assisted by the Illinois State Police Reconstructin Unit, are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Fox Road at the entrance to the Hoover Outdoor Educational Center in the city Tuesday at 5:20 p.m.
According to police, 51 year old John Kaegebein of Plano was traveling westbound on Fox Road on a motorcycle when a mini-van being driven by a 32 year-old Plano woman collided with the motorcycle.
Kaegebein was treated at the scene and then transported by Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District paramedics to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. The Kane County Coroner's office pronounced Kaegebein dead at 6:28 p.m. The cause and manner of death is under investigation pending the results of an autopsy and toxicology report, according to Kane County Coroner Robert Russell.
Police said a 10 year-old passanger in the mini van was also injured.
Fox Road between Poplar Drive and Pavillion Road was closed to traffic until 10 p.m. while police conducted a crash scene investigation.
The names of the mini-van driver and passenger were not available as of presstime.
