Suspect in Ottawa homicide found dead in Plano after police said he shot himself

Suspect, victims identified in double homicide

A man police believe was a suspect in a double homicide in Ottawa Friday was found dead Saturday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Plano.

Police surrounded a house at 317 Dearborn St. in Plano on Saturday morning to assist in the homicide investigation. Friday night, Ottawa police found Nicol E. Scolaro, 49, and Paul E. Ladue, 51, dead at 320 Deleon St., Ottawa, as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Ottawa Police Capt. Dave Gualandri.

Ottawa police developed Christopher B. Stankovich, 48, as a suspect.

A perimeter was set up in the area of the house. At about 5 a.m. Saturday, Stankovich exited and immediately retreated upon noticing police. A short time later, police heard what they believe was a gunshot come from the residence.

After further investigation, Stankovich was found dead.

At 7:09 p.m. Friday, Ottawa police responded for a report of a possible homicide at the Deleon Street property when Scolaro and Ladue were found.

The matter remains under investigation, according to Gualandri. He said there is no threat to the public as a result of this situation.
