YORKVILLE – Renovations for the new Arby’s are now underway following an update earlier this month.
The restaurant, which will be where the old Hardee’s used to be at 1508 N. Bridge St. (Route 47), is anticipated to open its doors to the public in October, according to Lynn Dubajic, economic development consultant for United City of Yorkville.
Dubajic said the developers are anticipating about 60 days to finish up the renovations and some additional time to finish staff training before opening.
Yorkville Ward 4 Alderman Seaver Tarulis said he hasn’t gotten a lot of resident feedback about Arby’s coming to the city.
He said it’s unfortunate that Hardee’s didn’t work out in his ward but he’s looking forward to Arby’s coming into the area.
Even if the arrival isn’t igniting as much discussion as, for example, a senior citizen complex, Tarulis said, he’s pleased to see someone coming into the space and making a go of it.
“Big name organizations like that are always welcome here in Yorkville,” Tarulis said.
Yorkville Ward 4 Alderman Jason Peterson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday, July 18 from Record Newspapers.
The update comes after city officials talked about anticipated fall 2019 open dates for businesses also including Holiday Inn Express & Suites, along with craft beer business Flight Tasting Room & Bottle Shoppe and Burnt Barrel Social – a restaurant that will also serve small batch whiskey – during the city’s July 2 economic development committee meeting. Those projects are within the Kendall Crossing development near NCG Cinema at the northwest corner of Route 34 and Route 47.
