The Village of Montgomery hosted its 16th annual 5K and 10K River Run on October 5. Village staff estimates about 190 people celebrated and ran the race over the weekend, with medals being awarded to first and second place winners in various age categories.
The River Run offered fun activities for the entire family, including sign making (to cheer on the participants), food vendors, such as Luigi’s and Kona Ice, information tables from Chiro One, Rush Copley Health Plex and Heartland Bank. Also, the race provided snacks for all patrons such as bananas, bagels and GoGo Squeez fruit packets.
The race took place along the scenic Fox River.
Village President Matt Brolley was among those participating in the 5K.
“This village event is a great way to celebrate the exquisiteness of the Fox River in Montgomery, enjoy the great weather and spend time cheering and celebrating with family and friends," Brolley said.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Montgomery VFW Post 7452, the Montgomery Rotary and Hesed House.
The village is also encouraging runners and others to mark Oct. 3, 2020 on their calendars for next year's River Run.
