The Yorkville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 489 is working with the Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Post 489 to sponsor a veterans homecoming celebration Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Yorkville Legion.
This special event, which is open to the public, honors our veterans. The Sons of the American Legion will be serving a buffet breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. consisting of scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, made-to-order omelets and mixed fruit. The prices for this breakfast are: older than 55, $6; adults (21 to 54), $8; teens (13 to 20), $5; children 6 to 12, $3. Ages 5 and under are admitted free. Veterans also will eat for free.
The Auxiliary organizes the entertainment and the raffle tables and reads the names of attending veterans to honor them for their service. 2019 marks the 17th year for this event.
The American Legion will conduct a flag retirement service beginning at 10 a.m. with Boy Scout Troop 40 and Cub Scout Pack 350 participating in this service.
The Yorkville American Legion is at 9054 Route 34, Yorkville.
