Norsemen continue strong serving, advance to regional final
SOMONAUK — If the first two matches of the postseason are any indication of how dominating the Newark volleyball team will be from the service line, then the defending Class 1A champions will be awfully hard to handle as they try for a third consecutive trip to state.
In the opener of the Class 1A Somonauk Regional on Monday, senior Meggie Scott fired off a perfect first set with 25 straight service points along with six aces as the Norsemen allowed Hinckley-Big Rock only five points.
Scott wasn’t quite as sharp on Wednesday in the regional semifinal with the host Bobcats. But once again she along with Madi Malone proved very stellar serving the ball as top-seeded Newark easily dispatched ninth-seeded Somonauk 25-6, 25-8.
