YORKVILLE – There soon will be a new hotel in town open for business.
Lynn Dubajic, economic development consultant for Yorkville, said during the city's economic development committee meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 5 that she wanted to remind everyone to mark their calendars for the opening of Holiday Inn Express and Suites hotel later this month.
Dubajic said the open house is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 22, with the ribbon cutting being scheduled at 3 p.m.
"It's [going to] be a big day for us," Dubajic said.
The hotel is located at 577 E. Kendall Drive, just north of the NCG Cinema, in the Kendall Crossing business park.
The update comes after city economic development officials announced in July 2017 the hotel would indeed be a Holiday Inn Express and Suites. Officials also had announced hotel project developer Sonny Shah of Kendall Hospitality LLC received approval from the Holiday Inn Express parent corporation for the franchise.
The hotel broke ground a month after the announcement.
The four-story hotel will feature more than 90 rooms, including some suites. An adjacent 12,000-square-foot banquet facility named The Opal Banquet and Event Center is set to open the following summer.
Other nearby projects within the Kendall Crossing business park set to open within the year include Burnt Barrel Social, a new local gathering place that sells food and small batch whiskey owned by Yorkville resident Matt Strong, with its anticipated opening date being at the end of this month, according to Dubajic. The Hacienda Real Mexican restaurant is set to open in January.
