Minor injuries in Yorkville crash; Aurora man charged

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash at 11:47 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, on Route 34 at Cannonball Trail in Yorkville, Yorkville police said.

Police said the crash occurred when a 2005 Chevy Suburban driven by Roberto L. Munoz, 49, of the 2800 block of Carlsbad Circle, Aurora, rear-ended a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Nan L. Burkhart, 65, of the 3300 block of White Oak Drive, Oswego, which was stopped for a red light. Burkhart’s Lancer then struck a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Ventura Aguilar, 54, of the 300 block of Mulhern Court, Yorkville, that also was stopped for the red light. Munoz, Burkhart and Aguilar all were treated for minor injuries at area medical facilities, while a passenger in Aguilar’s vehicle was released at the scene.

Munoz was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Upon release from the hospital, Munoz was transported to the Kendall County Jail where he posted bond and was released pending court proceedings, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said.
