SEWARD TOWNSHIP – A Montgomery man has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs after a vehicle crash earlier this week.
Sheriff’s deputies said in a Wednesday, Feb. 5, news release they investigated a two-vehicle crash with no injuries at 12:57 p.m. Feb. 3 near Ridge Road and Route 52 in unincorporated Seward Township. Police said in the news release that deputies determined during an investigation that Michael A. Lorch, 68, of the 0-100 block of Circle Drive East in Montgomery, was operating a vehicle that struck another one, and that Lorch was impaired by drugs.
Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Briars said Lorch was at an area hospital during the course of the investigation, but declined comment on which hospital or why Lorch was in the hospital to begin with, citing the sheriff’s office reevaluating policies about notifying the public which hospitals people are sent to within incident reports. He confirmed there were no injuries reported in the Monday crash.
Lorch was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, according to the release.
Lorch was released at a hospital on a personal recognizance bond with a court date, sheriff’s officials said in the release. Briars confirmed Lorch was not booked at Kendall County Jail and there is no mug shot available for Lorch at this time.
The court date for Lorch has not yet been entered into Kendall County court records as of 12:23 p.m. Wednesday.
