A Yorkville man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence Tuesday afternoon, following a three-vehicle accident near downtown Yorkville.
Yorkville police arrested Liam H. Gardiner, 21, of the 1300 block of Marketplace Drive, Yorkville, on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a controlled substance, after responding to a traffic accident at 12:25 p.m., March 24, in the area of East Van Emmon Street and Mill Street.
According to a press statement issued by the department, the first vehicle, driven by Gardiner, failed to yield to the right of way at the northbound stop sign at Van Emmon and Mill Streets. Gardiner's vehicle struck a second vehicle headed east, which caused the second vehicle to hit the third vehicle headed west.
No injuries were reported. Gardiner was also cited for failure to yield to right-of-way, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was transported to the Kendall County Jail where he was later released after posting bond, and was given a date to appear in Kendall County Court.
