Parks, trails and sections of Route 25 between Montgomery and Oswego along the Fox River are now under water as a result of the heavy rains that fell on northern Illinois over the weekend.
The rains also caused flood damage in numerous Kendall County area basements.
The Fox River overflowed its banks Sunday, forcing the closure of Route 25 between Boulder Hill Pass and Glendale Avenue, while signs were placed along the highway warning motorists of high water north of Boulder Hill Pass.
As of Monday morning, Violet Patch Park just north of Oswego on Route 25 and Hudson Crossing Park in the village's downtown were flooded.
The river level at the Mill Street bridge in Montgomery was at 14.63 feet, just over the flood stage of 13.5 feet, according to National Weather Service data as of 11 a.m. Monday.
The NWS is projecting the river level to gradually fall over the next several hours.
