Lottery player wins $1 million on ticket purchased at Ogden Avenue Shell

Oswego resident also claims $10,000 in Mega Millions drawing

AURORA– A lucky player in Aurora won a $1 million prize in the Tuesday, May 19 Mega Millions drawing, the Illinois Lottery has announced.

The winning ticket was purchased at Aurora Shell, 2112 Ogden Avenue (Route 34) and matched five numbers to win.

The retailer will receive a bonus of $10,000--1% of the prize amount--for selling the winning ticket.

The store owner, K. Belani, has been in business with the Lottery since 1999 and was very excited to hear of this win, according to the Illinois Lottery.

“This is a rough time for everyone, I would like to share the bonus with my staff,” said Belani. This is the first million dollar win for the Aurora Shell.

More than 30,100 other prizes were won in the May 19 drawing. One lucky player in Brussels also took home a $20,000 prize by matching four numbers and the Mega Ball, and there were three $10,000 winners in the draw from Oswego, Bolingbrook and an online winner through the Illinois Lottery app/website.

The Mega Millions jackpot is currently the largest jackpot in the world with an estimated $298 million prize, with a cash option of $235 million, eclipsing the next biggest lottery offers in Europe, North America and Australia.

Mega Millions is played twice a week - on Tuesday and Friday. The next prize draw is at 10 p.m. (CT) on Friday, May 22.
