On June 23, First National Bank and the Kendall County Record held a drive-up recognition night to honor the Students of the Week for the 2019-2020 school year at Yorkville High School.
This is the 22nd year that First National Bank and the Kendall County Record have come together to present the Student of the Year Scholarship. During this timeframe more than 500 students have applied for the scholarship and been featured in the Kendall County Record for their academic excellence. The Student of the Year winner receives a $4,000 scholarship, payable as $1,000 a year over the next four years.
After recognizing the 27 students who were featured as Students of the Week this school year, the three finalists were recognized. Those finalists were Hannah Schafermeyer, Evan Naumman and Narvella Sefah.
The 2020 Student of the Year scholarship was awarded to Narvella Sefah. Narvella will be studying Global Health at the University of Chicago, and hopes to one day join Doctors Without Borders. Best wishes to all of the students and to the Yorkville High School Class of 2020!
