Fox Valley Habitat sponsoring swing, soul and classic rock drive-in concerts Aug. 29

Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity will sponsor three, two-hour, drive-in music concerts from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the housing ministry’s ReStore resale outlet at 2302 W. Indian Trail Road in Aurora.

Proceeds will benefit Habitat’s affordable housing ministry in the Aurora. The public is invited to choose from one or three concerts. Parking is free at the seven-acre Greenfield Mall parking lot. Admission is $20 to $67 per carload, up to six persons per car.

The band lineup is Shout Section, a big-band, pop, jazz, swing group from noon to 2 p.m.; R-Gang, playing Motown and soul hits from 3 to 5 p.m. and Anthem, classic rock, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Single or triple-show tickets are available. Single tickets are $20 to $25 per carload. Sections A and B are $25, sections C, D, E and F are $20. Triple-show tickets are: Sections A and B, $67 per carload of up to six people; and sections C, D, E and F, $54 per carload of up to six people.

The drive-in concerts parking logistics place every attendee’s vehicle on a 9 x18 foot space with an added vacant 9 x 18 foot parking space adjacent to your vehicle and the next attendee car, creating a barrier and privacy for your group. The spacing gives concert goers a “Your Space", that is three-sided in privacy blocked with other vehicles.

Vehicles are allowed in one-hour before the start of their two-hour music session. Each ticketed vehicle gets one parking space within a Section A, B, C, D, E or F, and a 9' x 18' “Your Space” for setting up chairs, tables, coolers with drinks and food adjacent to the left of your vehicle.

For triple-concert ticket holders, a parking usher will also place a "Triple-Concert Pass" on your windshield, so you can retain your double-space and not have to move for the following concerts.

Smoking is banned within the vehicle parking area or anywhere within the venue parking lot. A COVID safety and security officer will supervise the venue at all times in a motorized courtesy cart with added passenger seating capacity. He will transport attendees to porta potties or elsewhere in the venue.

The officer is also on duty to call 911 for any medical or emergency issues. Aurora Fire Department EMT vehicles are only minutes away. For crowd-control or disturbance issues, request the COVID safety and security officer's assistance. No one is allowed to bring in or carry any weapon(s) into or around the concert venue.

In case of rain, the event will still be performed. The venue is on an asphalt parking lot with full storm-water drainage. Concertgoers are invited to bring umbrellas for rain or sun shade.

Habitat’s ReStore will offer free iced water bottles. On-site foods will be served by concert sponsors Jersey Mike’s Subs, Arby’s and the Popcorn Store.

The bands will play on a new 32 x 24 foot Stageline Sl 250 New Generation 9-foot-high stage by American Mobile Staging. Satellite remote speakers will be located far forward from the stage to push the sound to all back sections away from the stage. Local-venue FM radio broadcasting will be provided to visitors to tune-in the concert music station within a vehicle.

For enhanced stage viewing, the concerts will be live-video streamed for access on any mobile device of an iPhone, tablet or laptop that has wireless connectivity. Event tickets will provide the website address, user name and password to view live-stream and get the FM station number.

A dedicated large free-style dancing area for up to 50 people will be in front of the stage. Dancers must wear masks in the dancing area and stay on big yellow dots that are six-feet apart.

Habitat volunteers will run 10 games in front of the ReStore for kids from ages 3 to win prizes.

UAP Enterprises LLC will produce the shows.
