Oswego Senior Center upcoming events

The Oswego Senior Center is hosting online activities and classes to engage participation while accommodating the safety and health of seniors. The technology for online participation will be through Zoom.

Although staff members are not on-site daily, they are collecting messages at 630-554-5602. Calls will be returned.

Upcoming events include:

Parking Lot Bingo: Wednesday, Sept. 16, 10 to 11: 30 a.m. at the American Legion and Church of the Good Shepherd parking lot, 19 W. Washington St., Oswego. Presenting sponsor is Asbury Gardens.  Join them for safe, socially distanced parking lot bingo, with goodies, snacks and fun Bingo games, all from the comfort of your car. Or bring a lawn chair to sit alongside. Bring you own drink and face mask. Asbury Gardens and OSC staff will provide assistance. Parking spots limited. Advance registration by Sept. 14  required. Call 630-554-5602. 

Walk About Oswego: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.  Join Oswego Senior Center for socially distanced walking. Walkers will start at 156 E. Washington St. on the Franklin Street side and enjoy a walk around the residential area. Plenty of shade and camaraderie. Join in for 20 minutes or a double round of 40 minutes. Wear a face mask and bring your own water. Advance registration required. Call 630-554-5602.

Caregiver Support Group: 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 18. Keith Bielema, BSW, of Kendall County Health Department Transitions Program leads this monthly support group at the Oswego Senior Center located at 84 Templeton Drive in Oswego. This group offers support, ideas, resources and hope to those who have found themselves in a caregiving role. Limited seating. Must advance register by calling 630-554-5602. Temperature and self- health check screen; signed waiver, face mask and social distancing are required.

Tai Chi Zoom Class: Fridays, 11 a.m.  Instructor Kristi Niedzwiecki will lead you through this slow moving, fluid exercise that helps with balance, coordination, movement, agility and mindfulness. Wear cool, comfortable clothing and join in from home. Call OSC at 630-554-5602 with your email address or join through the website oswegoseniorcenter.org.
