A Plano man was arrested on a charge of domestic battery Sunday, hours after recieving a driving citation after a single-vehicle accident.
Yorkville police cited Uciel Carrizales, 30, of the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue, Plano, for improper lane usage, after responding to a traffic accident at 2:39 a.m., Sept. 27, in the area of Sunset Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue.
Upon investigation, officers learned that Carrizales' vehicle had been traveling westbound on Route 34, when it swerved south, striking a brick pillar located on an easement, flipping his vehicle and coming to a stop in the area of Sunset Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue.
Deputy Chief of Police Behr Pfizenmaier said Carrizales told police that he believed he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
Pfizenmaier added that it was unclear how Carrizales had left the crash scene.
Officers later responded to a reported incident of domestic battery at a hotel at 4:59 p.m., Sept. 27, in the 1500 block of North Bridge Street.
Upon investigation, officers arrested Carrizales on one charge of domestic battery. Police did not provide information on the condition of the victim.
Carrizales was taken into custody and transported to the Kendall County Jail, pending court proceedings.
