Kendall-Grundy Community Action awards scholarships

Jane Swinney and Kathy Braden, board members of Kendall-Grundy Community Action, a division of the Kendall County Health Department, recently awarded 10 area students with Community Service Block Grant scholarships.

The scholarships are made possible by funding from Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The recipients were chosen on a competitive basis; upon scholarship potential, commitment to civic affairs and career goals. The scholarship awards ranged from $500 to $1,000.

The scholarship recipients included:

Madelyn Knapp of Grundy County, attending Bradley University for Nursing;

Dajanai Lyles of Kendall County, attending Aurora University for Nursing;

Jori Roysdon of Kendall County. attending Aurora University for Nursing;

Samreen Mushtaheed of Kendall County, attending University of St. Francis for Biology;

Raquel Brady of Kendall County, attending Illinois Institute of Technology for Mechanical Engineering;

Alonte Lyles of Kendall County, attending Joliet Junior College for Business Administration;

Afreen Mushtaheed of Kendall County, attending University of St. Francis for Biology;

Aubrey Montano of Kendall County, attending North Central College for Psychology;

Parker Duncan of Kendall County, attending Waubonsee Community College for History;

Arriana Lyles of Kendall County, attending Columbia College for ASL Interpretation.
