OSWEGO TOWNSHIP – A Chicago man was arrested after allegedly eluding and fleeing from police and leaving the scene of multiple accidents, among other alleged traffic violations, according to Kendall County sheriff's officials.
At 4:49 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle crash at the intersection of Plainfield Road and Schlapp Road in Oswego Township, according to a Sunday news release from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
While a deputy was trying to investigate the incident, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed and a brief pursuit ensued, according to police. The vehicle then crashed a second time at the intersection of Plainfield Road and Linden Drive and the driver fled the scene of foot.
The driver was later found and identified as Miekiale T. Fields, 23, of the 9600 block of Woodlawn Avenue, Chicago, according to police.
Fields was taken into custody and transported to the Kendall County Jail for booking procedures, police wrote in the news release. As of 3:17 p.m. Sunday, Fields remains in custody, according to jail records.
Fields was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, which is a felony charge. Fields also was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a traffic crash, driving while license revoked and citations for other traffic offenses.
There were no publicly available Kendall County court records for Fields as of 3:17 p.m. Sunday, according to court records.
Sheriff's officials previously have declined sharing additional information about suspended or revoked driver's license charges or citations, saying that is not information for them to release. They previously have deferred to the Illinois Secretary of State's office for that information.
