Family Feud – What Happens Without A Long-Term Care Plan in Place

More American families are faced with the consequences of long-term care.

According to an Associated Press poll, the majority of adults age 40 and over believe they will need extended care at some point in their lifetime. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services states you have a 70 percent chance of needing some type of care service if you reach age 65. While that doesn’t mean 70 percent will need formal or informal care, it does mean there is a big risk.

Despite an awareness of the issue, a majority of Americans fail to do any advance plan to address the problem, and many families fall into a crisis.

“Usually when no advance plan is in place one of the adult children takes over. Siblings may disagree with how money is spent and the type of care that will be provided for the parent. These disagreements can sometimes split families. It tears some families apart and the focus is no longer on the best quality care for mom or dad,” said Matt McCann, a nationally known Long-Term Care Insurance specialist.

Sibling strife is always complicated.

There is a better solution for families.  Affordable Long-Term Care Insurance provides the tax-free resources to be used for your choice of quality care either at home or in a facility, including assist living facilities.

“When insurance money is being used, family members will not have any financial concerns about saving estate money but will be solely focused on your quality of care,” McCann added.

McCann is licensed nationwide and represents the major insurance companies. He will be able to find the best coverage at the best value based on your age, health and financial situation. He says Long-Term Care Insurance is very affordable as it is custom designed. McCann says the best time to plan is in your 40s or 50s as part of retirement planning.

His unique method allows a consumer to speak with him on the phone as they view his computer screen on their own computer. It is an easy and pressure-free way to learn about the available options and shop all the major companies that offer these policies.
