When it comes to the purpose of a Chamber of Commerce, supporting businesses tops the list. How? According to the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce mission statement, the organization “promotes the growth and prosperity of our members by connecting them to resources, relationships, and value-added benefits to foster a successful business community.”
How can it help you?
1. Networking opportunities
Establishing relationships via networking can help businesses stand out against the competition. Getting involved in one of Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce’s many committees, groups, and events is a great way to meet more people and make more business connections.
2. Marketing perks
With an Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce membership, advertising and marketing opportunities abound. A membership entitles those who join a free listing in the Community Visitors Guide, a resource distributed by the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce. Other opportunities include exclusive email blast ads and advertising in the quarterly newsletter.
3. Education opportunities
The Chamber offers a variety of seminars throughout the year for those looking to grow and strengthen their businesses. Past topics have included networking, sales, and building your business through referrals. Additionally, the Inspiring Women of Oswego committee provides education, networking and philanthropic opportunities through events hosted by the women of the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce.
4. Community relations
The Chamber creates and strengthens community connections by hosting and participating in a number of events. The Chamber-sponsored Hometown Expo, which is free and open to the public, gives participants an opportunity to promote their products and services, and attendees a chance to view the full spectrum of Chamber member businesses. Spirits on the Farm, a collaboration between the Chamber and the Illinois Craft Distillery Association, gives attendees a chance to sample spirits from several Illinois distilleries, as well as provides family-friendly festivities. The Chamber also hosts the annual Fraidy Cat 5K, Ghost Run 10K & Meow Mile.
In addition to participating in these events there are opportunities to sponsor or volunteer to meet other businesses and members of the community. The chamber works with other community organizations which also brings its members opportunities to network and be involved such as Prairiefest, Beats & Eats and Village of Oswego to name a few. Being involved in the chamber is key to your chamber membership.
